We each chose West Virginia as home, individually, in the early
70's. Geoff bought the farm in 1975. Two hundred unfenced acres, with no usable barn, and a pre-Civl War home that had never
been reached by rural electrification. We had infinite and various plans. However, the demands of updating our home, fencing,
barn building, raising a family, and earning a living (Geoff as a civil engineer / land surveyor, and Betsy as a special education teacher)
led us to narrow our focus. Sheep and hay, along with the occasional horse, became our agricultural products. From the start,
we have been dedicated to sustainable agricultural practices, production of healthful, locally grown food, and preservation
of a family farm lifestyle.
